Dr. Alex Audette began his post secondary education in Chemical Engineering, graduating from McGill University. He completed training in Acupuncture and Massage Therapy at Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Pharmacology while spending 7 years in Japan studying martial arts. This program was followed by a 2 year apprenticeship with Matsumoto Acupuncture Research Group and a 1 year apprenticeship in Shiatsu and Tsuina massage therapy. In 2000 Alex returned to Calgary and completed a further 2 years study at Alberta College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medcine. Dr. Audette has practiced Chinese Medicine for 5 years in Calgary in private practice as well as having taught at the Alberta College of Acupuncture and TCM. His multi-disciplinatry educational background and unique clinical experience will make him a valuable addition to the Complementary Healing Arts team. Japanese Deep Tissue Lymphatic Acupunture (DTLA)having been researched and developed in Japan by blind healers, practitioners emphasize information aquired by touch to determine needle placement. It differs significantly from traditional Chinese forms of acupuncture in that one needle is placed at a time and gently manipulated until the tissue around it aquires a correct healthy tone after which the needle is removed and the next point addressed. Sessions are longer (1 to 1 1/2 hours) with the practioner working on the individual for the entire duration (more labour intensive) but with quicker, more thorough results.
